For MY19 Suzuki will introduce a new junior dirt bike to its fun bike range, the DR-Z50 will be an ideal choice for introducing young riders to the sport of motorcycling.

Made in Japan and designed specifically for beginner riders learning the ropes, the DR-Z50 is a little bike with a big heart, featuring a 49cc 4-stroke engine with 3-speed automatic clutch, 10-inch wheels and a low 560mm seat height, making it the perfect tool for youngsters learning the fundamentals of riding or developing their skills.

The whisper quiet, ultra-reliable 4-stroke, air-cooled engine delivers plenty of torque in a smooth and controllable manner. Peak power can also be controlled via the adjustable throttle limiter screw that allows supervising adults to match the bike’s output to the rider’s ability.

Starting the fun is also a no-fuss experience as the DR-Z50 features two engine starting options, a feature unique in its class. A simple push of the handlebar electric start button is all you need to fire the DR-Z50 to life.

Alternatively, the DR-Z50 can also be kick started in the event the bike has lost battery charge due to lack of use. The keyed ignition provides added security and ensures the engine cannot be started by either method unless an adult has switched it on.

With a steel frame, the durable DR-Z50 is the lightest of its starter-motor equipped class rivals, weighing just 54kg ready to ride.

Delivering a fun and controllable ride, the little Suzuki has inverted telescopic front forks with 97mm of wheel travel and a linkless rear swingarm, while the 10-inch tyres offer great traction.

With updated styling inspired by its bigger brothers – the championship winning RM-Z250 and RM-Z450 – the DR-Z50 has a race-style look that stands out from the crowd and is available in an aggressive Champion Yellow livery.

The Suzuki DR-Z50 will be available from Australian dealerships in late September for a recommended price of 2,390*, and is backed by Suzuki’s 6 month warranty.
